MOM Home Visit

MOM Home Visit

The Ministry of Manpower began conducting visits to randomly selected homes from Apr 5, 2021 where foreign domestic helpers live and work. This move is a part of supporting Singapore maid‘s general well being including how well they adjusted to the new environment as well as a reminder about a safe working environment for both the employer and domestic worker. Employers will be informed about the visits one week in advance.

In the visit, MOM will provide a conducive environment for helpers to bring up their concerns and issues. MOM will work with employers to resolve those issues. For issues that are considered consequential, they may be escalated for further investigation for better handling.

In addition to home visits, the ministry plans to expand in-person interviews to all first-time maids by the end of this year.

These interviews and direct engagement home visits serve as additional touch-points with domestic workers as well as reminders to employers of duties and obligations.
